Lopes stage 1st meet in Phoenix pool since Nov. 5

The Grand Canyon men's and women's swimming and diving teams are back at home Saturday to take on local teams Ottawa and Arizona Christian in their first meet in Phoenix since an impressive Nov. 5 showing.

GCU competed against Arizona Christian last season, when the men won 216-44 and the women won 243-42. The previous matchup against Ottawa took place at the same meet with the Lopes men winning 217-36 and the women prevailing 245-20.

The Lopes are coming off a red-hot performance in Oxford, Ohio, where the men placed first out of eight teams and the women placed second out of nine at the Miami Invitational.

The meet on Saturday will have a start time of 1 p.m. at Fr Edward A. Reese Aquatic Center in Phoenix.
