The Grand Canyon indoor track and field season begins Friday with the Lopes sending some of their senior runners to compete in the program's first-ever December meet.
"We all are excited to get this season started this weekend at Clemson and competing against high-level teams such as Clemson, South Carolina and Tennessee should definitely lead to some fast early-season times," GCU head coach Tom Flood said.
The reigning WAC champions added new faces in hopes of bolstering an already successful program.
"We are traveling with a small group of mostly senior sprinters, hurdlers and mid-distance runners and thrilled at the chance to see the results of our great fall training," Flood said. "I'm excited to see the continued GCU success of all our defending conference champions, as well as watch the performances of some very impressive newcomers in Keira Christie-Galloway, Umajesty Williams and Calvin Wilson."
Looking forward in the indoor season, the Lopes will hold their annual intrasquad meet on Friday, Dec. 9.
"Excited to see all of our other talented athletes performances before heading into the holiday break," Flood said.
