The Grand Canyon women's cross country team will race at the Dave Murray Invitational in Tucson, Arizona, at the Rolling Hills Golf Course at 7 a.m. on Friday.
Â
After a quick turn around from competing at the Roy Griak Invitational last week in Minneapolis, the women will run at back-to-back meets for the first time this season.
Â
Redshirt freshman
Hana Hall was the Lopes' top finisher on the women's side at the Roy Griak Invitational last week, when she ran in her second collegiate 6,000-meter race with a personal-best time of 23 minutes, 3.02 seconds. Hall will compete again on Friday, and looks to continue her strong performances from increasing her familiarity running at the collegiate level.
Â
At the George Kyte Classic, the first meet of the season, junior
Kendall Drisko ran her first collegiate meet and finished second among the Lopes. She crossed the finish line at 16:53.4 in the 2.5-mile race. After not competing in Minneapolis, Drisko is well rested to race on Friday.
Â
Senior
Ana Alvarez Tostado is the only team member who has experience running at the Dave Murray Invitational, as she did in 2018 and 2019. Tostado placed 16th in 2018 and 15th in 2019. In both appearances, Alvarez Tostado helped her team place second.
Â
Competing at last weekend's race, redshirt freshman
Niki Hemmerlin was the second Lope to cross the finish line, as she finished 31 seconds after Hall. This was Hemmerlin's first collegiate 6,000-meter race.
Â
Sophomore
Stefana Purkovic, freshman
Emma Summers and redshirt freshmen
Halle Jenkins and
Anna Skoog will also compete Friday in Tucson.
