PORTLAND, Ore. – The Grand Canyon women's volleyball team closed the Portland State Tournament with a 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 win against Portland on Saturday. The Lopes won the Portland State Tournament and
Teagan DeFalco and
Annabelle Kubinski were named to the all-tournament team.

Ava Mason. GCU went on a four-point run started by a kill from Eskes and followed by a block from DeFalco and Eskes. The Lopes went on a three-point run to close out the set with a kill by Kubinksi and a service ace by sophomore defensive specialist Castan Strum.
GCU got out to a quick lead in the second set with a five-point run, which started with a kill from opposite hitter
Hope Hanak-Harper, two aces from Goulart and two kills from Eskes for a 14-10 Lopes lead that forced a Portland timeout. Eskes put the Lopes at set point with a service ace, but the Pilots rallied with four straight points before a ball-handling error gave the Lopes the second set and a 2-0 match lead.
The Lopes and Pilots went back and forth in the third set, but the Lopes managed to pull ahead with a five-point run that was highlighted by back-to-back kills from Kubinski and two service aces from Mason. GCU finished the match when Mason found Kubinski and Eskes on back-to-back points.
GCU is back in action next weekend (Sept. 17-18), when it takes on UC Irvine and CSU Fullerton at the Big West/WAC Match-Up in Irvine, California.
