AVCA Top Flight Award

GCU pair receives Top Flight honor

Grand Canyon beach volleyball's Paula Hoffmann and Allanis Navas were selected to receive the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top Flight award. This is the third class that has been honored with the award that recognizes excellence in collegiate beach volleyball across all flights.

The pair qualified for the award by playing at least 15 matches within a flight and winning at least 75% of those matches. Hoffmann, a graduate student, and Navas, a freshman, went 18-0 on Court 4. GCU's Newcomers of the Year make up the top No. 4 pair in the country and form the only undefeated pair to win the award for Flight 4. The Lopes duo is among six pairs to win the award on Court 4 and one of 36 pairings selected nationally.

Hoffman and Navas earned several noteworthy wins on Court 4 this season, including victories in GCU matches against No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Florida State, No. 3 LSU, No. 5 Loyola Marymount, No. 6 Cal Poly, No. 8 Pepperdine, No. 10 TCU and No. 10 California.
