No. 8 Lopes set to close regular season at Stanford

The No. 8 Grand Canyon beach volleyball team heads to Stanford, California to close out the regular season. The Lopes will play in the Dartboard Classic against No. 10 Cal, San Jose State, No. 5 Loyola Marymount and No. 11 Stanford.

Courts 1, 2 and 3 will be live streamed against the host Stanford.

LOPES STAY AT NO. 8 - GCU checked in at No. 8 in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Coaches Poll for the second consecutive week.
NAVAS/HOFFMANN TIE SINGLE SEASON WIN RECORD - Freshman Allanis Navas and graduate student Paula Hoffmann each have 23 individual dual wins this season, tying senior Taylor Jarzombek's program record from the 2019 season.
KEY WEEKEND - With NCAA's around the corner, these games are important because only eight teams qualify for the tournament.

No. 10 Cal

Cal is 13-9 this season with key wins over No. 6 Hawaii, No. 10 Stanford (twice) and No. 11 Pepperdine.

San Jose State

San Jose State has only played six games, with its three wins over Pacific and Sacramento State (twice).

No. 5 Loyola Marymount

The Lions are 22-6 and are coming off of a 2-2 weekend at the Center of Effort Challenge in San Luis Obispo, Calif. LMU defeated the Lopes 4-1 and No. 6 Cal Poly 3-2.

No. 11 Stanford

The Cardinal is coming off of a 5-0 seep over Santa Clara, a split with No. 12 Cal and a 3-2 win over No. 11 Pepperdine.

GCU dropped four games at the Center of Effort Challenge last weekend against No. 1 UCLA, No. 6 Cal Poly, No. 2 USC and No. 5 Loyola Marymount.

Up next, the Lopes have a week off before the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship takes place May 7-9 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
