Esai Easley and
Justin Rasmussen were among the nation's top college prospects who were selected to participate in the Adidas MLS College Showcase, along with GCU's
Leonard Griffin being one of the head coaches for the Friday-Sunday event at North Carolina.
"When you work hard to build an event featuring the top players in the country, you must also have the top coaches, and this year's group, like in years past, is no exception," MLS Director of Player Relations and Player Development Alecko Eskandarian said. "Leo is a fantastic coach and leader who exemplifies the best in our game and MLS couldn't be happier to have him this year."
The GCU pair and 42 other college prospects were picked to compete in a series of training sessions, testing, interviews and match play. The three-day event will give Easley and Rasmussen the opportunity to play in front of scouts from every MLS team.
"It's an honor to be able to work with MLS again and help guide their prospects through their evaluation process," Griffin said. "I can't wait to get to Chapel Hill."
Easley, the WAC Defensive Player of the Year, is one of the top-ranked defenders in the nation and helped GCU to three NCAA tournament appearances during his four years as a Lope. He has helped push GCU get to the next level, making it a consistent top-25 program. Read more on Easley's career

Rasmussen led the Lopes with 24 points this season with nine goals and six assists. The fifth-year midfielder has left his mark at GCU, as he became the first NCAA All-American in program history after the spring season. Rasmussen was named to the All-WAC second team and was one of 44 players named to the Hermann Trophy watch list.
