SEATTLE – The Grand Canyon women's volleyball extended its win streak to four matches after sweeping Seattle U, 25-17, 25-15, 25-15, on Thursday night.
The Lopes (15-4, 7-3 WAC) remained in a first-place tie atop the WAC's West Division with California Baptist by being dominant from the service line at Seattle U, as they totaled nine service aces while the Redhawks (4-17, 1-9 WAC) did not score one. GCU junior setter

GCU got out to a quick lead over Seattle U in the opening set after junior middle blocker
Annabelle Kubinski recorded back-to-back kills followed by an ace from freshman outsider hitter

Ashley Lifgren recorded back-to-back kills from DeFalco. GCU closed out the set with three straight points, including a service ace from Mitchell to take the first set.

Hannah Eskes and an ace from DeFalco keying the start. The Lopes gained separation from Seattle U as they went on a six-point run to make it 17-9. Lifgren closed out the second set after recording back-to-back kills and giving GCU a two-set lead.
GCU did not get out to the same hot start in the third set, but the result of the set was the same. Down 11-7, the Lopes went on a four-point run highlighted by back-to-back service aces from Mitchell to tie the set at 11. GCU took the lead and held onto it after the Lopes went on a five-point run, including kills from Kubinski and Reed. The Lopes closed out the set and match on a six-point run to sweep the Redhawks.
The Lopes are back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday at California Baptist for their final regular-season road match.
