BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Grand Canyon women's golf team closed out its fall season with a fifth-place finish among 18 teams at The Clash at Boulder Creek, making GCU the highest-ranked WAC team in the tournament.
"Overall, this tournament was a decent end to our fall season," Lopes head coach
Lauren Giesecke said. "Very proud of how hard the team battled in strong winds yesterday and how hard we battled the back nine today.
"This was a tough course to return to after last season, but overall the team competed and should give us some positive momentum going into the spring season."
Three Lopes tied for 17th in at The Clash, finishing five strokes over par after all three rounds. GCU sophomore
Constanza Guerrero was the most impressive in the final round of play, as she shot her best round and the team's best at 2-under-par 70. She played the final eight holes at 3 under par and sank six birdies in her final round.

Lani Luafalealo also finished the tournament at 5 over par, closing with a 2-over-par score on Tuesday. GCU senior
Alexis Linam, playing as an individual entry, was the third Lopes player to end the event at 5 over par after also finishing with a 74.
Jumping five spots and finishing in 28th place was senior
Siripatsorn Patchana, who shot her best round of the tournament in Tuesday's third round with a 1-over-par 73. She also made three birdies on the last eight holes.

Carly Strole finished tied for 36th place after finishing The Clash at 10 over par after 54 holes. Fehringer struggled in her final round, shooting a 76, while Strole finished the tournament with her best score at 74.
Lopes move up 3 spots after 2 full days
GCU moved up three places into fourth after two full days at The Clash at Boulder Creek.
With a team score of 22 over par, GCU is one stroke above WAC opponent Utah Valley and two strokes ahead of Seattle U entering Tuesday's final round. The Lopes are playing par-5 holes better than any of the tournament's 18 teams, averaging 5.1 strokes per par-5 hole in the first two rounds.
Three Lopes cracked the top 25 with two tying for fifth after Monday's second round. Luafalealo and Linam are tied at 3 over par with six other players in fifth place at the Boulder Creek Golf Course. Luafalealo jumped one spot from the first round of play while Linam, playing as an individual, moved up four spots.
Fehringer rounded out the top 25 with a two-day score of 6 over par score as she matched her score from the opening round. Fehringer played her final eight holes at 1 under par on Monday, helping her jump 10 spots from Sunday.
After leaping 20 spots Patchana improved her score by three strokes, giving her a combined 7-over-par score. Teammate Guerrero is tied with Patchana for 33rd after she improved from her first round as well after shooting a 75.
Also improving in her second round in Nevada, was Strole, as she totaled four birdies and a 3-over-par round. After two rounds, Strole is eight strokes over par and tied for 38th place, jumping 15 spots from Day 1.
Luafalealo, Linam in top 10 after Day 1
GCU was in seventh place after Sunday's first round of the Clash at Boulder Creek, hosted by Northern Arizona.
With a team score of 11 over par, GCU is five strokes behind WAC opponent Seattle, seven from Utah Valley and 13 off leader San Francisco.
Two Lopes players are in the top 10 entering Monday's second round in the three-day event.
Luafalealo sank three birdies on holes 1 through 5 to give the Lopes' top performance. She finished the day at 1 under par to tie for sixth. Linam, entered as an individual, is at even par and in a tie for ninth after carding five birdies in the opening round.
Fehringer ended her first round with a 3-over-par score, playing the course's front nine at 1 under par and finishing a tie for 35th.
Lopes Guerrero rounds out the top 50 for the Lopes, as she is tied for 44th at 4 over par in just her second tournament this season.
Patchana and Strole are tied for 53rd after both shot 5 over par in their opening rounds.
