The Grand Canyon beach volleyball team ranks No. 7 nationally in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Poll. Â
Â
GCU finished the shortened 2020 season ranked seventh, a program best, before it was canceled because of COVID-19. The Lopes finished 10-2 with ranked wins over No. 4 USC, No. 11 California and No. 17 South Carolina.Â

"We are very happy to be ranked at No. 7 in the nation in the preseason poll," Lopes head coach
Kristen Rohr said. "We still have a lot of work to do and we are motivated to keep fighting for our goal."
The Lopes finished the previous four seasons in the national top 20:Â 12th in 2017, 18th in 2018, 14th in 2019 and seventh in 2020.
Â
"Although it is a great accomplishment, the ranking at the end of the season is what matters the most," Rohr said.
Â
GCU begins its season at home, where they will host No. 17 Arizona and Colorado Mesa next month.
