The Grand Canyon men's golf team hosts the GCU Invitational on March 13-14 at GCU Golf Course.
Teams will play 36 holes on Friday and a final 18 holes on Saturday. Both days will feature an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The course set up at GCU Golf Course will be 7,200 yards and a par-71.
The 18-team field includes GCU, Texas Tech, UTEP, Gonzaga, Eastern Michigan, South Dakota, Valparaiso, UC Irvine, Wichita State, North Dakota State, UC Riverside, Pacific, Hawaii, Columbia, Samford, Bowling Green, CSU Fullerton and Omaha.
Kansas City won the 2019 GCU Invitational with an 829 (23 under par) score to win by 14 shots over UT Rio Grande Valley. UTEP is the top returning team from last year's field. The Miners finished in a tie for third (8 under par).
GCU is coming off a strong final round at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate. The Lopes finished the 21-team tournament in 15th-place. GCU was the 15th highest rated team coming into the tournament in the field.
Michael Salazar led the Lopes in Hawaii with an even par score. Matthew Braley, Jake Chanen and T.J. Nolan also had sub-par rounds. Reece Nilsen and Trevor Lampson were also in action for the Lopes in Hawaii.
GCU is back in action next week at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate in Chapel Hill, N.C.
