SEATTLE – The Grand Canyon women's basketball team found a way to down Seattle U in a 58-48 road win on Thursday night.
Both squads ran into foul trouble throughout the game, none more important than GCU senior leader
Da'jah Daniel. Daniel was forced to sit the majority of the second and third periods, limiting the Lopes' leading scorer and rebounder to five points and five rebounds in 20 minutes of action. She also attempted just three shot as her streak of five consecutive double-doubles ended.
The Lopes were led by freshman power forward
Mae Bryant, who posted 14 points and six rebounds near her hometown of Sammamish, Wash.. GCU sophomore guard
Venla Varis connected on four 3-pointers for 12 points.

Carla Balague grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for the Lopes.
GCU managed to overcome scoring just five points in the fourth quarter. The Lopes outshot the Redhawks 40.4% to 30% and held a 40-33 edge on the boards.
Seattle U never led as the Lopes were ahead 16-7 after the first quarter and 30-22 at halftime.
The Lopes extended the lead to 51-38 through three quarters and never let the Redhawks closer than eight points the rest of the way.
With the win, GCU improves to 8-8 overall and 3-2 in WAC play while Seattle U drops to 7-12 and 1-5.
GCU is back in action on Saturday when it travels to Utah Valley.
