Fall sports All-WAC academic awards announced

GCU is presented with the most honorees of the conference
The Grand Canyon fall sports programs received academic All-WAC recognition for the 2019 season.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must maintain a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average, must have completed at least one academic year and have participated in 50% or more of the team's contests. The teams that were included in receiving these awards are men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball and cross country.
Out of the total 290 student-athletes honored by the conference, GCU had 45 honorees. The Lopes had the most honorees in the WAC with Utah Valley in second with 37.
The men's soccer team had 10 honorees, including four seniors. The team was awarded the most honorees in WAC men's soccer.
The women's soccer team earned nine selections, including honors from junior Hannah Edwards and sophomore Dani Babb.
The women's volleyball team was awarded with 10 honorees. Named to the All-WAC First Team in November, sophomore Kaira Moss was also a part of the 10 players who earned the academic honor. Additional individuals awarded were junior Teagan DeFalco and senior Melody Horton.
The men's and women's cross country team together had 16 honorees. Seniors Elizabeth Balsan and Paige Hildebrandt received the academic recognition while also claiming top finishes for the Lopes at the NCAA West Regionals. Redshirt freshman Jacob Lewis was also an honoree in addition to being the first Lope to cross the finish line at the NCAA West Regional meet.
