The Grand Canyon women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Cal State Northridge on Sunday at GCU Stadium.

Andrea Martinez, alongside her parents and friends, was honored before the Lopes' final nonconference home match for Senior Day.

CSUN (6-1-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead after scoring in the second minute. Izabel Reyes intercepted a GCU pass and connected quickly with Bethany Fitzsimmons, who scored high one minute and 46 seconds into the game. The Matadors added a second goal just before halftime on a shot outside the box from Stephanie Gallardo.

In the shots column, the Lopes (1-7-1) and Matadors were evenly matched on the offensive side in the first half with the Matatdors holding a slim 6-5 edge. Lopes junior forward

Haley Bostard were able to get shots on goal, but both were saved by the CSUN keeper. The Lopes were more aggressive in the second half, drawing three corner kicks, but were only able to generate one scoring chance off the set pieces.

Larson led the GCU offense with four shots, while Martinez played 32 minutes in her fifth start this season. Freshman

The Lopes will hit the road for their next three matches, wrapping up nonconference play at Omaha on Sept. 27.
