The Grand Canyon cross country teams are set to compete at the Dave Murray Invitational on Friday at the Randolph Municipal Golf Course in Tucson.
The men's race will start at 5 p.m., and the women will take off at 5:30 p.m.
The duration of the course consists of a 1,000-meter loop and a 2,000-meter loop, made up of almost only grass. The women will run three loops, which will total 5,000 meters. The men will run four loops in their 7,000-meter race.
In the 2017 Dave Murray Invitational, GCU beat Arizona State for the first time in program history. Again, in 2018, expectations were set high for GCU when it returned to the meet as close contenders with Arizona State and Arizona.
So far this season, GCU already has competed in Tucson for the Cactus Open and finished ahead of Arizona while finishing second behind Arizona State on the men's and women's sides. Lopes senior
Elizabeth Balsan opened the season by winning that Aug. 31 meet.
Following the meet, the Lopes will head to Sacramento, California, for their next competition at the Capital Cross Challenge on Sept. 28.
