Following a home sweep, Grand Canyon looks to continue its winning streak on a six-game road trip that spans three cities and nearly 3,300 miles. GCU won't have to travel far for the beginning of the stretch of road games, visiting Tucson for a Tuesday night matchup with Arizona.
The Lopes and Wildcats are set for a rematch of a wild game on April 9 in Phoenix. The teams combined to walk 30 batters, tied for the second-most walks in a Division I baseball game. GCU coughed up a late lead in a 14-13 loss to Arizona.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- PAC-12 PLUS: Tuesday's meeting with Arizona dictates whether GCU finishes the regular season with a winning or losing mark against the Pac-12. The Lopes posted two wins at USC and one against Utah while dropping one to USC, one to now-No. 4 Stanford and the previous matchup against Arizona.
- DOUBLE DOWN: With 88 doubles in 38 games, the Lopes are hitting doubles at one of the highest rates in the country. GCU's mark of 2.32 doubles per game ranks seventh nationally. Junior left fielder Kona Quiggle leads the charge with 18 doubles, ranking No. 6 in the country. Four more Lopes have nine or more on the season.
- BOTTOM OF THE ORDER: In last weekend's series sweep of Seattle U, the bottom third of GCU's order was responsible for the most damage. Senior third baseman Tyler Wyatt, senior center fielder Preston Pavlica and sophomore catcher David Avitia combined to hit .407 in the series with 13 RBIs, nine runs, five doubles, two home runs and six walks.
SCOUTING
By its high standards, Arizona is struggling on the season with an 18-19 overall mark and a 6-12 record in Pac-12 play. While featuring a top-20 offense that hits .300 as a team, the Wildcats have struggled to pitch and play defense. Arizona's 6.24 ERA and .958 fielding percentage each ranks among the 50 worst marks in the nation.
The Wildcats are coming off a winless trip to the Pacific Northwest, where they dropped all three matchups against No. 2 Oregon State. Arizona held a 4-2 lead into the seventh inning of the series opener but allowed six late runs in an 8-4 loss. Due to rain, the teams played a doubleheader on Saturday, when the Beavers won 15-3 and 9-3.
Earlier this season, Arizona escaped GCU Ballpark with a one-run win in a sloppy see-saw affair. The Wildcats opened up an 8-1 lead through four innings before GCU scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to narrow the deficit. The Lopes tacked on four in the fifth and three in the seventh to open up a 13-8 advantage. Arizona got the final say with six late runs to win 14-13. The teams combined to walk 30 batters, the second-most in a game in Division I baseball history.
