After a pair of consecutive road series in WAC play, the Lopes are home for two weekend series beginning with UT Rio Grande Valley on Friday.
GCU is looking to snap a three-game skid with a pair of losses to New Mexico State and a narrow midweek loss to Arizona. The Lopes' three-game losing streak comes on the heels of a six-game winning streak, which saw GCU top Nevada, sweep Utah Valley, beat UNLV and open the series at New Mexico State with a win.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- DOUBLE DOWN: GCU is No. 15 in the country for doubles with 71, led by junior outfielder Kona Quiggle's 15. Quiggle is tied for 12th nationally. GCU is on pace to top 130 doubles on the season for the first time since 1992.
 - BESS' BAT: Sophomore Cuba Bess has nine doubles, a triple and eight home runs for a .720 slugging percentage, which ranks 17th in the country. No GCU player has slugged .700 or better for a season since 2000.
 - WITH THE GLOVE: The Lopes have committed just nine errors in their past 16 games. GCU's .977 fielding percentage ranks 32nd in the country.
SCOUTING
The Vaqueros currently sit at No. 136 in the RPI, 100 spots better than last season under second-year head coach Derek Matlock. Twenty-one players on the UTRGV roster are transfers. UTRGV had a five-game winning streak before losing its past two games to Chicago State on Sunday and Houston Baptist on Wednesday. Prior to those losses, the Vaqueros were off to their best start since 2012 at 20-11. UTRGV features the nation's No. 34 earned run average at 3.56. Matlock spent the previous five years as the pitching coach at West Virginia.
In recent action, UTRGV fell to Houston Baptist in midweek action. The Vaqueros won a series at home against Chicago State, taking Games 1 and 2 before dropping the finale.
GCU took two of three games from UTRGV in Edinburg last year, including throwing a combined one-hitter in the series finale with the Vaqueros' lone hit coming in the ninth inning.
