NORMAN, Okla. – The Grand Canyon softball team held #3 Oklahoma to just one run on Saturday night at OU Softball Complex, as the Lopes (12-13) narrowly fell to the Sooners (19-2), 1-0, to close out the OU Tournament. GCU lost to Northwestern (17-5) earlier in the day, 7-2.
GAME ONE
With the bases loaded in the top of the first frame, the Wildcats plated a runner with a single to centerfield. NU followed up with a bases-loaded walk to go ahead, 2-0.
Northwestern added three more runs in the top of the second frame to go ahead, 5-0.
The Lopes added a run to the board in the bottom of the second, as freshman

Taylor Olsen and senior
Maddie Dowdle loaded the bases for pinch hitter
Jordon Keeton. The junior reached on a fielder's choice, as Tourville made it home for the 5-1 score.
A two-out single from junior
Loriann Olson sent Dowdle home for the Lopes second run of the inning.
Northwestern answered back with a two-out 2RBI double to left center field to go ahead, 7-2, in the top of the third.
Neither team would add any more runs for the remainder of the game, as the Wildcats came away with the win.
GAME TWO
The Sooners struck first with a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the second frame. OU threatened with a runner in scoring position after a double to right center, but a strikeout from junior right-hander
Brianna Aguilar and a 6-3 putout ended the frame.
The Lopes and the Sooners were scoreless for the remainder of the game, as Aguilar (2-3) dished three total strikeouts to the OU batters in the 1-0 final decision game.

Kaylee Dietrich earned two walks from the OU pitching duo.
GCU returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Lehigh for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday at GCU Softball Stadium. The pair of games is the first two in a nine-game homestand.
