Student-Athlete Networking Night put on by L.O.P.E.S. for Life
Grand Canyon student-athletes from 10 teams had the opportunity to engage in networking and fellowship Monday at the spring Student-Athlete Networking Night, put on by L.O.P.E.S. For Life.
"We were very pleased with the event this year at the beautiful Canyon 49 restaurant in the GCU Hotel," Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development Jason Linders said. "We had a great mix of our student-athlete population interacting with professionals who volunteered their time on Presidents' Day."Â
The networking event was held at Canyon 49 Grill with more than 20 Phoenix-area companies in attendance, giving the student-athletes a chance to ask questions and receive insight about what future employers seek in a new hire, along with gaining advice to prepare them for the "real world" after graduation.Â
"We want to thank the more than 20 companies who worked with Kaeman Mitchell to help coordinate representatives being here, many of whom praised our student-athletes on their preparedness, appearance and eagerness to learn," Linders said. "We are blessed with the community support we have to contribute to our programming here as we strive to provide the best possible student-athlete experience at GCU."

What our student-athletes are saying
Â

Sierra Smith, softball senior
"Networking night is a great event that has provided me with many opportunities to meet with many successful business professionals. I have made great connections with people that have got me to where I am today and several of those connections have been willing to help me with my post-grad plans, whether it is with their company or not. Who you know is the most important thing when getting into a business career and these networking events have provided me with that opportunity."
"Networking night enhances our student-athlete experience and provides us with an opportunity to connect and find a future employer during their time as a student-athlete. I am grateful for the opportunities."

Will Schwob, men's volleyball senior
"I really enjoyed networking night. Not only do you get great experience meeting with business professionals, but you get to sit down face to face with potential employers of your field. I feel very grateful for the resources the university provides for student athletes. I recommend this event to all students athletes at GCU and strongly encourage them to take advantage of it.
