The Grand Canyon women's basketball team plays its second straight game at GCU Arena on Saturday when the Lopes host CSU Bakersfield.
In the teams' first meeting this season, GCU (5-12, 3-4 WAC) looks to start the month of February with a win after closing out January with a defeat of California Baptist.

Scouting CSU Bakersfield
The Roadrunners are 8-12 on the season and sit just above the Lopes in WAC play at 4-3. CSUB opened its season with a win over Wright State before splitting a two-game road trip with a win at UC Santa Barbara and a loss to Texas-El Paso.
Bakersfield beat Whittier and Westcliff for its final two nonconference wins, while falling to San Jose State, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, Omaha, SMU, North Texas, Oregon State and UC Riverside. In WAC play, the 'Runners have wins over Seattle U, Texas-Rio Grande Valley Kansas City and Chicago State. CSUB has losses to Utah Valley, New Mexico State and California Baptist.
A trio of seniors leads Bakersfield statistically this season. Alexxus Gilbert, a 5-foot-7 guard, who ranks third in the WAC with 17.4 points per game. Malayasia McHenry, a 6-1 forward, averages 10.4 points and 6.4 rebounds while 5-7 guard JJ Johnson ranks second in the WAC for steals per game at 2.8. That helps spur a Roadrunners defense that leads the WAC in steals per game (12.3) and opponent turnovers per game (21.7).
Last season, the Roadrunners finished 18-14 overall and 10-4 in the WAC. CSUB downed UTRGV and GCU in the first two rounds of the WAC Tournament before falling to Seattle U 57-54 in the championship game. CSUB went to the WNIT and lost to Fresno State 77-66.
