PORTLAND – The Grand Canyon women's basketball team could not find a rhythm on Friday night in a 69-46 loss at Portland State.
The Lopes shot 29 percent from the field and 11.8 percent from three-point range as the Vikings cruised to the victory. PSU outrebounded GCU 48-26 and led by seven after the first quarter and 11 at halftime.
Da'jah Daniel was one of the bright spots for the Lopes as the senior went 8 for 15 from the field with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
GCU did assist on 13 of 18 total field goals, led by freshman
Jada Holland with five assists.
Sophomore
Venla Varis went 2 for 6 from behind the arc, while the rest of the Lopes went 0 for 11.
Portland State, the defending Big Sky Tournament champs, were led by Tatiana Streun with 17 points.
The loss drops GCU to 2-4, while PSU improves to 5-3.
GCU is back in action on Sunday when it travels to take on the Portland Pilots.
