Sporting a youthful squad with 80% of its roster as underclassmen, the Grand Canyon women's basketball team looks to remain undefeated in season openers in the Nicole Powell era.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

TIP-OFF: The Lopes have gone 2 for 2 in season-opening wins under third-year head coach Nicole Powell.
AWARDS: Senior post Da'jah Daniel was named to the Preseason All-WAC second team.
NEW-LOOK LOPES: GCU sports a mix of newcomers in freshmen and transfers. Mae Bryant, Jada Holland, Tavia Rowell and Jada Moss are the first-year players, while Mariah Mitchell, Sami Oliver-Alexander, Manaya Jones and Tianna Brown transferred with collegiate experience.

SCOUTING

BENEDICTINE plays in the California Pacific Conference in the NAIA.

The Redhawks are 3-0 this season with wins over Park - Gilbert, Saint Katherine and SAGU-American. The Redhawks are averaging 94 points per game and have won by an average of 33 points.

NORTH DAKOTA advanced to the Summit League semifinals last season and finished 12-19.

The Fighting Hawks won an exhibition game over Concordia (Minn.) 98-19 on Oct. 24. North Dakota plays at Arizona on Tuesday before facing GCU on Friday.

LAST TIME OUT

GCU ended the season as the No. 6 seed at the WAC Tournament, where it fell to CSU Bakersfield 73-59 in Las Vegas.

The Lopes host Southern Utah on Thursday, Nov. 14, in GCU Arena. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
