Derek Leader resigned from his position as the women's soccer head coach at Grand Canyon after four seasons. Leader will join the staff of Real Salt Lake-AZ, a youth soccer development program. An immediate national search is underway for the next head coach of the Lopes program.
"We would like to thank Coach Leader for his four years of service at GCU," Interim Vice President of Athletics
Jamie Boggs said. "We wish Derek and his family the best moving forward."
GCU's 2019 season concluded on Wednesday with a 4-14-1 record, including a 3-5 mark in conference play. The Lopes lost to Kansas City 2-0 in the first round of the WAC Tournament.
GCU posted a 23-49-7 record over the last four seasons and went 11-14-5 in conference play.
