The Grand Canyon men's soccer team returns home to take on two WAC opponents this weekend. The Lopes face Houston Baptist on Friday at 7 p.m. for their Kick or Treat night before facing Kansas City on Sunday at 7 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- TASOURIS WINS WAC AWARD: Sophomore goalkeeper George Tasouris earned his first weekly honor of 2019 on Monday when he was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week for his sixth shutout of the season at UT Rio Grande Valley. Tasouris was named WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and ranks in the top 100 nationally in save percentage (13th), goals against average (29th), saves per game (53rd), total saves (54th) and goalie minutes played (80th).
- HYNDMAN TO THE HALL OF FAME: GCU head coach Schellas Hyndman will be inducted into the United Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame in January. Hyndman hit a landmark win in the Lopes' season opener over Northern Kentucky, becoming the fifth Division I coach in NCAA history to earn 500 collegiate career wins. Hyndman is one of only two active DI coaches with at least 500 career wins, trailing South Carolina coach Mark Berson by nine.
- SHUTOUT SQUAD: GCU has recorded a shutout in all four wins this season. The Lopes have held six opponents scoreless, three at home and three on the road. GCU ranks 23rd nationally in shutout percentage (.500).
SCOUTING
Houston Baptist is 3-9 this season with wins over Wofford, IUPUI and San Jose State. The Huskies' first win of the season came in their opener at home, where they took down Wofford 2-0. Their second victory versus IUPUIÂ went into overtime tied at 1-1. The Huskies scored in the 94th minute to win. Houston Baptist's last win came on Oct. 6 for their only WAC victory in a 3-2 triumph over San Jose State.
Junior midfielder Gianluca Natera leads the Huskies this season with five points off two goals and one assist. Senior forward Thomas Menke has provided support on offense with two goals this season. Two junior goalkeepers have split time in the box for Houston Baptist, with Jorge Cabrera and Jorge Guzman each making six starts.
GCU leads the series against Houston Baptist 5-1.
Kansas City stepped up in conference play after going 1-4 in its nonconference schedule. The Roos' only nonconference win came against Western Illinois on Sept. 21, when they took down the Leathernecks 2-0 at home. Now 3-3 in the WAC, Kansas City has recorded three back-to-back wins against Incarnate Word, UT Rio Grande Valley and Utah Valley at home. The Roos will also play at UNLV before traveling to Phoenix to play the Lopes.
Midfielder Ryan Khedoo leads the Roos on offense with seven points this season. The junior has scored three goals and made two assists in 11 games played for Kansas City. Senior goalkeeper Filippo Errico has competed in all 11 games for the Roos, making 50 saves for a .676 save percentage.
Kansas City leads the series between the Lopes and Roos 4-3. GCU is 2-1 at home against Kansas City.
LAST TIME OUT
- GCU recorded its sixth shutout of the season in a 0-0 draw at UT Rio Grande Valley on Oct. 19.
WHAT'S NEXT
- GCU travels takes its final road trip of the regular season to take on Air Force and Utah Valley on Oct. 31 and Nov. 2.
