Da'jah Daniel became the ninth NCAA player this season to record at least 24 points and 22 rebounds in a game when that stat line from Daniel led the Lopes to a 75-71 victory against California Baptist on Saturday at GCU Arena.

With her first double-double as a Lopes player, Daniel made 11 of 12 shots and grabbed 10 offensive rebounds among her 22 boards. With her final offensive rebound, Daniel made her final field goal with 1:55 remaining to give the Lopes the lead for good. It was the first 20-point, 20-rebound game in the GCU program's Division I history.

The Lopes (5-12, 3-4 WAC) broke a three-game losing streak and moved ahead of the Lancers (9-10, 2-4 WAC) for fifth place in the WAC with three more Lopes scoring in double figures.

AJ Cephas tallied 17 points, five rebounds and three assists for her highest scoring game since the season opener. Freshmen
Laura Piera and
Taylor Caldwell each scored 12 points out of the backcourt, while Caldwell grabbed five boards and added a team-high four assists. Piera tallied four rebounds and three assists.

The Lopes started hot right off the bat with a 15-4 run to lead 17-6 in the first quarter. GCU continued the momentum and headed to the locker room with a 40-25 lead.

California Baptist came back in the third quarter to tie the game, but GCU remained on top by three with one quarter to play.

The Lopes and the Lancers were tied four times in the fourth quarter and CBU took its first lead with 4:15 to play, but a Caldwell 3-pointer and pull-up jumper put GCU back on top, 71-68. GCU outlasted the Lancers with a 4-2 run to end the game.

The Lopes return to GCU Arena on Saturday to host CSU Bakersfield at 2 p.m. (Arizona time).Â
