The Grand Canyon women's soccer team takes to the road for a pair of matches in Texas, as the Lopes face Texas-El Paso on Friday night and Texas-San Antonio on Sunday over Labor Day weekend.
GCU split its home-opening weekend with a 1-0 victory over Houston Baptist and a 1-0 overtime loss to in-state rival Northern Arizona. This weekend starts a string of four consecutive road games for the Lopes, who head to Northern Colorado and Colorado State a week later.

GCU and Elon are the only women's soccer programs in the nation to play three overtime matches in their first four games of this season.
With seven more saves last weekend, senior goalkeeper
Abby Burton is ranked sixth in the country with 28 total saves. Burton also ranks 15th in the nation in goalie minutes played (396) and ranks 17th in the nation with seven saves per game.
GCU is 0-2 all-time against UTEP and will face UTSA for the first time.
Scouting UTEP (2-2)
Last week, UTEP defeated Idaho State 2-1 and lost to WAC team UT Rio Grande Valley 3-2. The Miners began the season with a 6-1 home win against Lubbock Christian and a 1-0 loss at Abilene Christian.
Along with facing the Lopes, UTEP will play Northern Illinois to wrap up a four-game homestand.
Last season, the Miners went 8-11 and finished 10th in Conference USA. They return eight starters and 18 total players from last season.
Scouting UTSA (2-1)
UTSA will play its first home match of the regular season when GCU travels to San Antonio on Sunday.
The Roadrunners opened the season with a 1-0 win at Northwestern State and a 1-0 loss at Texas State. Last weekend, UTSA won 2-0 at Oral Roberts and will travel to face Colorado on Friday before playing GCU at home. After the home match against GCU, UTSA won't have another home match until Oct. 5.
Last season, UTSA went 3-14 and finished 12th in Conference USA.
