SAN FRANCISCO – The Grand Canyon women's golf team wrapped up a season of firsts at the NCAA San Francisco Regional at TPC Harding Park.
While not in contention to finish in the top-6 to advance, the Lopes shot their best round of the championship with a 300 (+12) final round. The round was a full eight shots better than Oregon's final round.
GCU finished 17
th overall, but managed to come away with valuable experience for the four underclassmen, while senior
Deanna Salvatori got to play in the postseason in her one chance to do so as GCU was only eligible her final year due to GCU's transition to DI.
Courtney Vogel shot an impressive under par round of 71. Her final nine included four birdies and a 33 score. Vogel was GCU's top finisher at the championship with rounds of 76, 77 and 71.
Salvatori finishes her GCU career with a single season school record 105 birdies. She finished with a final round 76.
Siripatsorn Patchana finished with a 76, adding a pair of birdies for a season total of 99. It will go down as a GCU Freshman record, challenging Salvatori's mark this season.
Carolina Sandstrom ended the year on a positive note after struggling to a 44 during her first nine holes. She regrouped with nine straight pars for an even-par 36 on her final nine to finish with an 80.
Alexis Linam shot even par through her first 10 holes before settling for a final round 77. She had GCU's only eagle during the championship, recording it on No. 9 during the first round.
The six teams advancing to the NCAA Championship round out of the SF Regional was No. 5 Stanford, No. 1 UCLA, No. 40 Ole Miss, No. 32 Louisville, No. 16 Kent St. and No. 26 Colorado.
