There is a long list of Grand Canyon opponents who do not need numbers to know what a tough out
Quin Cotton has become.
Cotton did it again Tuesday, reaching base in each of his plate appearances during the Lopes' 11-5 victory at Loyola Marymount.
As GCU closes in on clinching another conference title with this week's regular-season finale series at Seattle, here is a look at what the sophomore right fielder has been doing:
- Batting .525 (32 for 61) over the past 15 games.
- Fifteen of his past 30 hits have been for extra bases.
- Only Lopes player to start all 52 games this season.
- Leads the Western Athletic Conference in batting average (.389), hits (86), runs (55), doubles (18) and total bases (127).
- Ranks nationally for batting average (28th), hits (fifth), runs (23rd), doubles (36th) and total bases (30th).
- Also leads the team in slugging percentage (.575), on-base percentage (.460), triples (four) and hit by pitch (10).
- Ranks second on the team in stolen bases (11), runs batted in (43) and home runs (five).
- Hitting .469 in 12 games as the leadoff batter, including .568 in the past nine games as the leadoff hitter,
- Reached base nine times in 10 plate appearances over the past two games.
- Has the program's only five-for-five games since GCU returned to Division I. He did it twice.
- Has a fielding percentage of .984 with only two errors this season.
