The Grand Canyon women's basketball team dropped a match-up for first place against CSU Bakersfield 69-40 on Saturday afternoon in GCU Arena.
With the loss, GCU drops to 13-12 overall and 7-4 in the Western Athletic Conference, while CSUB improves to 15-10 and 9-2 in the WAC.
The Lopes were held to just two points in the first quarter and could not recover as CSUB had five players in double-figures to remain in first place.
GCU was led by a pair of seniors on Senior Day.Â
Jessica Gajewski led GCU with 15 points and eight rebounds, while
Brie Mobley finished with 12 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Katelyn Lee and manager Ty Brearley. Each senior was honored by coaches, family and friends, with a short video for each honoree.
CSUB was led by a trio of players with 12 points. Jazmyne Bartee, Jazmine Johnson and Alexxus Gilbert each led the balanced attack for the 'Runners.
Despite the loss, the Lopes remain in contention for the top seed in the WAC. CSUB is in sole possession of first place with a 9-2 mark, but the Lopes are just two behind in the loss column, with another match-up with the 'Runners in two weeks.
GCU will wrap up WAC action on the road over the next two weeks. The Lopes take on Seattle U on Feb. 22 and Utah Valley on Feb. 24.
