The Grand Canyon women's basketball team closes its non-conference schedule on Thursday at Santa Clara.
The Lopes are looking for their third win of the season and first in four games when they finish 2018 competition with the Broncos.
GCU senior center
ShaRon Miller is the only Lopes player averaging double digits for scoring (10.3 points per game) and she also is the team leader in rebounds per game (6.2). Fellow senior
AJ Cephas tallied her first double-double (12 points, 12 rebounds) in Sunday's 57-50 loss at Long Beach State.
GCU will open WAC play on Jan. 3 at Utah Valley.
Scouting Santa Clara
Santa Clara is 6-4 on the season and broke a three-game losing streak Saturday at San Jose State. The Broncos opened the year with a pair of wins over Nevada (56-48) and San Diego State (60-43) before falling at USC 77-46.
Santa Clara then went on to win two more games over Cal State Fullerton in overtime (64-60) and Missouri State (77-73) but then lost three consecutive games to Cal State Northridge (53-38), Oregon State (82-31) and Fresno State (80-53).
Thursday's game is also the final non-conference game of the season for the Broncos. Through its first 10 games, Santa Clara has two players averaging double-digits. Tia Hay leads the team with 13.4 points per game and Ashlyn Herlihy is at 10.8 points per game. Lauren Yearwood leads the Broncos on the glass with 7.1 rebounds per game while Herlihy is at 7.0 and Naomi Jimenez is at 5.0.
