The Grand Canyon women's soccer team looks to get back in the win column this weekend, as the Lopes travel to the Midwest to face Chicago State on Friday and Kansas City on Sunday.
Scouting GCU (4-11, 1-2 WAC)
This will be the last two-game road trip of the regular season for the Lopes. Since joining the WAC in 2013, GCU has a 10-12-3 conference road record.
The Lopes are 2-0 on the road all-time against Chicago State and 0-2-1 at Kansas City all-time.
Senior goalkeeper
Abby Burton is third in the WAC with 68 saves. Senior midfielder
McKenzie Cook is leading the Lopes offensively with 10 points and 27 shots on goal.
Last season, GCU defeated Chicago State 7-0 and lost to Kansas City 1-0 at home.
Scouting Chicago State (0-12-1, 0-4 WAC)
Last week, the Cougars lost at Utah Valley 6-0 and at Seattle U 3-1. Currently, Chicago State is on a 12-game losing streak.
Chicago State leads the country with 138 saves. The Cougars also rank second in the nation with 62 goals allowed.
Goalkeeper Audra Wisehart leads the WAC with 73 saves. Her teammate Judith Sorribes is fourth in the conference with 64 saves. Freshman midfielder Marisa Beale leads the team with four goals.
Scouting Kansas City (11-3, 3-0 WAC)
Last week, the Roos remained perfect in conference play with a 3-0 win against New Mexico State. Kansas City has shut out its first three conference opponents for the second straight season.
The Roos have the top three point leaders in the WAC with Kelsey Mothershead (25), Lexi Howard (21) and Reighan Childers (21). Mothershead is also the conference leader in goals and assists with 10 and nine, respectively.
Freshman goalkeeper Afton Fennewald has started 10 games with a .804 save percentage and a .90 goals against average.
The Roos finished first in the WAC last season with a 7-0 record but lost to Seattle U in the WAC Tournament final.
