HOUSTON – Despite tallying a season-high 28 shots on the game, the Grand Canyon women's soccer team dropped its Sunday afternoon matchup with Houston Baptist, 2-0, at Sorrels Field. The Lopes (3-4-1, 0-0 WAC) outshot the Huskies (1-3-1, 0-0 Southland), 28-9, while registering eight shots on frame.
"Anytime that you are able to get 28 shots off and can't score, well, that's a bad day," head coach
Derek Leader said. "We're simply not doing our part in front of the goal."
HBU tallied a goal in both the first and second half, breaking Grand Canyon's four game unbeaten streak.

The Lopes outshot the Huskies, 17-6, in the first period but were unable to find the back of the net. Houston Baptist netted the first goal of the game in the 34th minute after a cross into the box and a one touch shot past Fraasch.
HBU came back in the second half to push the gap to two goals in the 82nd minute with a header goal.
The Lopes return back to GCU Soccer Stadium for a pair of games this week. GCU will host Stetson for a 4 p.m. game on Thursday, Sept. 14 and Hawaii at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17.
