FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – A Northern Arizona goal in the 86th minute of play proved the difference in tonight's in-state matchup, as the Grand Canyon women's soccer team fell to NAU, 1-0, on the road at Max Spilsbury Field. The Lopes fell to 0-3 on the season, while the Lumberjacks advanced to 2-1.
GCU outshot the Lumberjacks, 12-8, while tallying five attempts on frame. The Lopes goalkeeper
Blakely Fraasch made three saves on the day, while the NAU keeper made five.
Freshman defender
Hannah Edwards led the way for the Lopes in the first half, tallying three shots with two on goal. GCU outshot NAU 7-3 with four shots on frame in the first period.

Madison Cox tallied two shots each, while midfielder

Mary Joy Carrieres had one apiece.
Edwards, Nichols, Carriers and McGee each made their third-consecutive start for GCU, while senior
Emma Cain made her first of the season.
The Lopes return to Phoenix on Sunday, August 27 to open the 2017 season at GCU Stadium. GCU welcomes Weber State for a 7 p.m. kick off.
