Grand Canyon sophomore forward
Ellie Johannes took home the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week award for week 6 of the season, Monday morning.

Johannes has fully emerged as the main offensive threat in GCU's attack. as she leads the team in shots amd shots on goal and is tied for the team lead in goals. She was selected as a preseason MW Player to Watch and has been a consistent threat before breaking into the stat sheets for the Lopes the past two weeks.
The native of Glendale, Arizona, scored GCU's game-winning goal in the 29th minute of Thursday's final nonconference match at Northern Arizona. Johannes, who returned home to the Valley after a stint at Indiana, received the ball from senior
Hannah Smith just above the penalty box. She took two dribbles to her left, creating space to fire a left-footed banger inside the far post for the goal.
Johannes scored her first goal with GCU in the previous match at Arizona, marking two matches in a row with a score.
Grand Canyon now enters the brunt of its schedule with Mountain West play beginning this week. The Lopes welcome San Diego State on Thursday and Air Force on Sunday at GCU Stadium. GCU plays two matches each of the next five weeks before the Mountain West Championship.
