PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's basketball team closes out its first road trip of the season at UNLV on Sunday, as the Lopes are still on the hunt for their first win of 2017-18. GCU came close to earning its first victory at Cal Poly on Thursday, but the Mustangs used a strong second and third quarter to hold off the Lopes and earn the win. The Lopes and the Lady Rebels have not squared off since GCU has competed in Division I play, making Sunday's game the inaugural meeting between the pair. UNLV is holding a strong 2-0 start to the season.

Brie Mobley had a season-high 27 points, bringing her scoring average to 21.7 points through three contests.

Scouting UNLV
The Lopes face the Lady Rebels for the first time since beginning Division I on Sunday. GCU looks to earn its first victory of the season, while UNLV has enjoyed a strong 2-0 start to the year. The Lady Rebels defeated Portland State, 88-80, in overtime in their season opener before downing UC Irvine, 73-54, on Tuesday.
Sunday's game stands as the third in a four-game home streak for UNLV, as the Lady Rebel will host Hofstra next Saturday as part of the Lady Rebel Round-Up Thanksgiving Tournament.
UNLV was 22-11 last season and 12-6 in the Mountain West Conference. The Lady Rebels defeated Utah State to advance to the semifinals of the Mountain West Tournament, but fell to Fresno State, 53-51. UNLV competed in the Women's National Invitational Tournament and faced Colorado-Boulder in a first round matchup. The Lady Rebels fell to the Buffalos, 66-52, in the first round to end the season.
