The Grand Canyon women's basketball program looks to continue its winning ways as they welcome Chicago State to GCU Arena on Saturday, Jan. 28. Tip is set for 7 p.m. MST.
The Lopes will look to stay perfect on the week after dropping UMKCÂ Thursday night.Â

GCUÂ secured its eighth victory at home after dropping UMKC, 75-64 on Thursday night.The Lopes stepped it up in the fourth putting together a 53.8 percent performance from the field, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe to outscore the 'Roos 22-12 in the final fame. GCU got off to a slow start, but took the lead at the buzzer at 40-39 off of 63.9 percent shooting from the field and 75.0 percent shooting from long range.Â
In the third, the Lopes focused on offense and continued to rack up points. They made 100 percent of their free-throws and maintained a narrow lead after a back-and-forth battle. The score jumped to 53-52 in favor of GCU to close out the period. After Mobley kicked off the fourth period with a triple, the Lopes went on a 13-2 run going into the final three minutes of the game. Despite the 'Roos solid attempt to close the gap, the Lopes defeated UMKC 75-62 at the buzzer.

1.The Lopes will play in their first televised contest this season as the game will be featured on CW6. GCU will be streamed via the ESPN 3 app for the second time this year.Â
2. GCU had four finish the night with double-figures on Thursday against UMKC in Mobley (23)Â

Jessica Gajewski (11). This marked the third time this season the Lopes have reached the feat, last achieved against Southern Utah and Alcorn State.Â

3.Since returning to the court after an ankle injury, Laramie has performed well. Through WAC contests she's averaged 18.0 points per game, good for second in league games. Overall, she is averaging 19.6 points per game good for No.20 in the NCAA. She currently leads the conference in scoring by 3.4 points.Â
4. Mobley has continued to wow on the court. After producing her third straight 20-plus scoring outing against UMKC, she has be impressive in a starting role. Against the 'Roos she led the squad in scoring (23), rebounds (7) assists (6) and steals (5). Marking the first time a single player has led in four different categories in a single game since
Dana Jones during the 2015-16 season. She is currently averaging 16.3 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. Through WAC contests she leads the league ins coring with 18.4 ppg.Â
5. With four Lopes sitting in the top-3 in the WAC in their respective categories and two Lopes leading the conference in scoring and assist/turnover ratio, GCU continues to impress on the court. Laramie leads with 19.6 ppg, she also leads in 3-Point FG Pct at 46.9 percent. Gajewski sits at third in the category (42.7).
Zelor Massaquoi is now tied for first with 8.3 rpg.
Laura Marcos-Canedo leads with a 2.3 assist/turnover ratio allowing 27 turnovers through 62 assists.
Aniya Baker sits in the top 2 with 4.2 assists per game.Â

Chicago State Notables
The Cougars are 0-20 on the year and 0-6 in WAC play.
They are averaging 52.7 ppg with 31.4 rpg. Sh'Toya Sanders  leads the squad in scoring with 16.0 ppg, she also has a team-leading 9.9 rpg. Kaylee Allen, is also averaging double-figures with 14.3 ppg.Â
GCU will meet CSU for the seventh time in program history. GCU holds the advantage in the all-time series at 6-0. The Lopes swept the Cougars last season. In their last meeting, GCU defeated CSU in 65-60 finish in Chicago.Â
