PHOENIX -- Grand Canyon jumps back on the road for five games in six days beginning with two gmes against San Jose State. A two-game series against the Spartans will be games are sixth and seventh game GCU will play in nine days. This will be the fourth team GCU faces that is a member of the Mountain West Conference. GCU has faced this year New Mexico, UNLV and will face Nevada in the final home game this year. GCU is 1-3 against the Mountain West this season. The series includes a Tuesday game at 6 p.m. and another 6 p.m. game on Wednesday. Both games will be broadcasted on the GCU Radio Network with Friday's series opener also airing on the San Jose State's Video page.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lopes took the series 2-1 against WAC opponent Chicago State, for the team's second straight series within the conference, to take sole possession of fifth place. In Sunday's rubber match against Chicago State,
Tyler Wyatt took the mound and won his second straight start. The Lopes' offense put together 12 hits from seven different players to score 10 runs, the most runs since April 24 against North Dakota.

PITCHING PREVIEW
Grand Canyon will start RHP
Jake Wong (1-2, 3.83 ERA) who is coming off of three solid outings after picking up his first collegiate win at North Dakota on April 22nd. It will be the freshman's fifth start of the season after taking the mound against Big 12 opponent, Kansas. In Wong's last three appearances, GCU has not lost a game. In the final game against the Spartans, GCU will throw out
Josh Andrews who has made six appearances but the freshman will earn his first career start.
San Jose State will counter on Tuesday with Logan Handzlik (1-3, 9.40 ERA) who has the third highest ERA on San Jose State with the 13 appearances, the sixth most on SJSU. Handzlik has allowed 39 earned runs, the most on San Jose State. This will be the 11th game Handzlik starts on the mound.
SCOUTING SAN JOSE STATE
The two-game series against GCU will conclude a five-game homestand for the Spartans. San Jose State has struggled at home, posting a 9-14 record this year at Municipal Stadium. Ozzy Braff has been an offensive force for SJSU this season, leading the team with a .325 batting average, with a team-high six home runs. The Lopes will look to take advantage of San Jose State's pitching as they rank last in team ERA (6.27) in the Mountain West Conference. The Spartans like to take a disciplined approach at the plate, recording the fewest strikeouts (245) in the Mountain West Conference.
