No. 10 GCU set to host San Jose State, New Mexico

PHOENIX – The No. 10 Grand Canyon beach volleyball team is set to host San Jose State and New Mexico on Sunday, March 13. The Lopes will start off Sunday's matchups against the Spartans at 8 a.m. before taking on the Lobos at 12 p.m. PT.
On Thursday, the Lopes jumped to No. 10 in the DiG Magazine Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll after going 4-1 on openeing weekend. After starting the season in the No. 15 spot the Lopes started hot with their only loss to undefeated No. 5 Florida State, falling 3-2.
GCU quickly regrouped and finished out the weekend with three straight victories. Leading the team as a duo, Mackenzie Phelps and Shannon Dugan finished the weekend 5-0.
The Lopes will start off Sunday's matchups against the Spartans (1-3) who are coming off their first-ever dual match victory on Sunday, March 6 against Sacramento State. GCU will end its weekend against New Mexico (3-2), fresh off a 3-2 victory over California on Sunday. The Lobos suffered losses against No. 17 South Carolina and No. 6 Florida during the Sun Devil Challenge tournament and finished the weekend 2-2.
