Grand Canyon University senior pitcher
Coley Bruns has been named the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 16-22, as announced by the conference office.
It is the third WAC award for the team this season, with
Andrew Naderer and
Chad De La Guerra taking earlier honors.
Bruns picked up a shortened complete-game 13-3 win over North Dakota on March 20. He allowed three runs in the first and then blanked UND through the final six innings. Bruns fanned a career-best 11 batters. The game was shortened to seven innings due to the WAC 10-run rule.
Bruns is now 3-1 on the year with a 2.86 ERA. With his 11 strikeouts on Friday, Bruns is now tied for sixth in the conference with 28. His 34.2 innings pitched are eighth in the league.
The Lopes will welcome Santa Clara to Brazell Stadium for non-conference contests on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.) and Wednesday (2:30 p.m.). Fans can find live stat links to follow the action at
