Ryan Majerle scored a career-best 19 points, including a three-pointer that snapped a 70-all tie with 57 seconds to play, giving Grand Canyon a 78-76 win over Bakersfield at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield, Calif.
The win moves GCU to 14-11 overall and more importantly 5-3 and in a tie for second with Kansas City in the Western Athletic Conference. The Lopes are 2.0 games behind New Mexico State. Bakersfield falls to 9-15, 4-4.

Majerle was 7-for-9 from the field including 5-for-7 from three's. He added four rebounds and an assist.
GCU made 12-of-19 field goals in the second half (63.2%), including 5-for-8 from behind the arc. The second half was a wild affair that featured 10 lead changes.
The Lopes had four scorers in double figures, led by
Joshua Braun who finished with 20.
DeWayne Russell had 17, while
Daniel Alexander added 13. GCU was outrebounded 32-22 in the contest, but received a team-high six from Braun. Russell dished out a team-high seven assists.
GCU made 18-of-21 from the free throw line, just shy of their team-best mark of 18-for-20 that was set in the win over UIC earlier this season.
Trailing 24-14 in opening half with 10:41 left, GCU would outscore Bakersfield 23-12 to carry a 37-34 lead into the break. The Antelopes were paced by Braun's 15 points. GCU shot 46.4 percent (13-for-28), compared to 56.5 percent (13-for-23) for the Runners. The Lopes forced seven turnovers and committed only three in the stanza.
Aly Amhed led Bakersfield with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
