Grand Canyon (14-11, 5-3) returns home to GCU Arena to take on Utah Valley (9-14, 3-5) tonight at 7 p.m. The Antelopes are looking to build off wins on the road vs. Seattle and Bakersfield, last week. The WAC matchup can be heard on radio on KXXT 1010 AM (also via the KXXT "TuneIn Radio" App), with GCU Alum Michael Potter calling the action alongside 'The Coach", Dan Nichols. KAZT7 will carry the television broadcast, which can also be found on www.cox7.com, beginning with their pregame show at 6:30 p.m.VS. UTAH VALLEYThis marks only the fifth meeting between the Wolverines and the Antelopes. The Lopes won in Orem on Jan. 15, 83-74, their first-ever win over Utah Valley. DeWayne Russell led the Lopes with 24, Jerome Garrison added 20.
LAST TIME OUTGCU won their second straight road game with a 78-76 win over Bakersfield. Ryan Majerle scored a career-best 19 in the contest, including five 3-pointers. The Antelopes shot 63.2 percent (12-for-19) in a second half that featured 10 lead changes. GCU was 18-for-21 from the charity stripe.
NAIL BITERS!GCU has played in 11 games decided by five or fewer points this season, including three straight and four of their last five. The Lopes are 6-5 in those games. In those 11 contests, GCU has lost five by a combined eight points and have won six by a combined 16 points. Of those five losses, three have been by two points and two have been by just one point.
ALEXANDER'S SPARK OFF THE BENCHIn his past 10 games off the bench, Daniel Alexander is averaging 12.8 points and 5.1 rebounds, with a season-best 19 points twice and career-high 11 rebounds at Utah Valley on Jan. 15. Alexander has also recorded two double-doubles in that time. He has posted double-digit scoring games in nine of his 11 contests.
