Grand Canyon (13-11, 4-3) completes their two-game road trip when they return to action Saturday, Feb. 7 at Bakersfield (9-14, 4-3) at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield, Calif. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (AZ time). The contest can be heard on radio on KXXT 1010 AM (also via the KXXT "TuneIn Radio" App), with GCU Alum Michael Potter calling the action alongside 'The Coach", Dan Nichols. The game will be broadcast on television by the American Sports Network, which will be shown on Cox7 in Phoenix.
VS. BAKERSFIELDThis marks the 33rd meeting between GCU and Bakersfield with the Roadrunners leading 19-13 in the all-time series, although GCU has won three straight over the past two years. The Lopes opened WAC play this season with a 73-65 victory over Bakersfield on Jan. 10 at GCU Arena.
LAST TIME OUTGCU played another close game, this time coming out on top in a 66-64 win over Seattle U at Key Arena on Thursday night. The Lopes trailed by nine in the second half before mounting a comeback and scoring the winning basket with one minute remaining. Daniel Alexander led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Ryan Majerle added 16 points.
NAIL BITERS!GCU has played in 10 games decided by five or fewer points this season, including two straight and three of their last four. The Lopes are 5-5 in those games. In those 10 contests, GCU has lost five by a combined eight points and have won five by a combined 14 points. Of those five losses, three have been by two points and two have been by just one point.
