Live StatsLive Video PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon women's soccer team is at home for the first time since Sept. 6 as they host its first Western Athletic Conference home matches of the season. The Antelopes will welcome to town Chicago State and Missouri Kansas City.
Grand Canyon picked up its first win on the road this season last week on Oct. 2 against Texas Rio Grande Valley. After the weekend, center back Madison Cox is tied for second on the team with two goals after scoring the game-winning goal against the Vaqueros. This will be the first match for the Lopes at home in over a month and head coach Stevie Gill and his squad have been exceptional at home posting a 3-1-1 record at GCU Soccer Field. GCU is second in the WAC this season with 201 shots, averaging 16.75 shots per match.
All-Time Series RecordGCU has never lost to Chicago State in the previous two meetings, posting a 1-0-1 record. The Lopes will face UMKC for the fourth time and UMKC has won all three previous matches.
Head Coach Stevie Gill Quote of the Week"Chicago gave us a great game last year at their place and we look forward to another good game this Friday night as we come off a lengthy 7- game road trip. It will be nice to play in front of our own fans and get back on the winning trails. We will need to be at the top of our game and firing on all cylinders in order to get a favorable result against both teams but I believe that if we stick to our plan we will do GCU proud. Finishing our chances in front of the goal and playing tight defensively will be key factors in distinguishing ourselves as one of the top teams in the conference. If we can do this consistently, I believe that we can finish the season very strong."
