Grand Canyon picked up its fifth straight win, improved to 5-2 on the season, and swept its two-match road series with Saint Francis at DeGol Arena in Loretto, Pa., Wednesday.
GCU won by set scores of 19-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.
It was the first time this season the Lopes had lost the first set. GCU also rallied from a 15-8 deficit in the fourth.
Off the bench in three sets, junior setter
Tanner Maxwell sparked the Lopes with 36 assists, two service aces and a pair of kills. Junior outside hitter
Gerrard Lipscombe had a double-double with a team-high 13 kills and 10 digs He was also part of four blocks. Frosh libero
Sky Engleman had 15 digs.
"We had a lot of contributors," said GCU coach Jeremy Price. "Our guys that came off the bench did really well and I can't say enough about the job Tanner did."
GCU hit .336 for the match and .388 in the final three sets.
Ryan Mather added 12 kills and seven digs.
Jon Schaefer had six kills and eight digs.
It was another strong match from the GCU middles, too.

Ashton King and
Keaton Berry combined for 20 kills and a combined .533 attack percentage. Ward had nine kills and hit .615 with a match-best five blocks, including two solos. King had eight kills and Berry, another key sub, added three. "All three of our middles dominated," added Price.

Luke Turner, another contributor off the bench, for their serving in the fourth set, keeping the Red Flash offense out of system. It was Turner's lone set of the game, but he added one kill, a service ace and one dig.
"I'm pleased how we came out on a long road trip and were able to get two victories. It was a total team effort," said Price.
GCU begins Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play with matches against No. 3 Lewis on Feb. 6 (6 p.m.) and Feb. 8 (2 p.m.) in Antelope Gymnasium.
