What does it mean to be a captain?
We all wonder what responsibilities and requirements come along with the term - captain.
To me, as a senior on the GCU women's volleyball team, captain does not put me - and the other two senior captains - above anyone else on the team. It simply gives us an awesome opportunity to lead our team in the right direction to be successful. We are expected to lead by example and bring support to everyone around us on and off the court. It is an honor to be named captain and follow the footsteps of previous captains before us. I have learned and grown as a person on and off the volleyball court over the last three years playing for Canyon. Three of my daily goals as a captain are to be supportive, encouraging, and trusted by all teammates and coaches. We have one goal in this program and that is to be two feet in on and off the court. When we are all on the same page we are going to do some amazing things.
