THE LAST SERIESThe Antelopes won their fourth WAC series in five tries, taking two of three games from Northern Colorado. After falling 8-6 in the opener, the Lopes responded by outscoring the Bears 26-8 over the final two games. Andrew Naderer and Ethan Evanko picked up wins, while Malcolm Purdy became the fifth different GCU pitcher to record a save on the season.
FLAIR FOR THE DRAMATICSGCU has played in 10 one-run games so far this season (4-6), including six straight from April 1-12. The Lopes have participated in 17 games decided by two runs or less.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOMEGCU is batting .323 (149-for-462) in 14 home games this season as they are sporting an 11-3 record at Brazell Stadium. The Lopes have outscored their opposition 104-48 at home. The pitching staff boasts a 3.17 ERA (44 ER in 125.0 IP) while holding opponents to a .263 average.
DE LA GUERRA WITH THE BATChad De La Guerra has hit safely in eight straight games (.485, 16-for-33), and has reached base safely in 15 consecutive contests, the longest such streak for an Antelope player this season. In 38 games, he has a team-best 10 doubles, 4 triples, and 27 RBI. De La Guerra was recently tabbed as WAC Hitter of the Week for April 14-20 after batting .571 (12-for-21) in 5 games. He fell just a single short of the cycle in GCU's 12-5 win over Northern Colorado on April 19.
BRUNS GETTING IT DONEColey Bruns is 5-0 in eight starts (10 appearances) this season for the 'Lopes, allowing just 21 earned runs in 62.0 innings for a 3.05 ERA. He has struck out a team-best 52 batters. Opponents are hitting .248 against the right-hander, who has issued just 13 walks. Bruns tossed three straight complete games from March 16-30, allowing just 6 earned runs over 25.0 innings.
WALKER'S WAY = GETTING ON BASEDavid Walker leads the team with a .462 on-base percentage and is batting at a team-best .361 clip (52-for-144) in 38 games. He also leads the Lopes with 17 multi-hit affairs and is batting .363 (20-for-55) with 13 runs in his last 14 games. He drew 4 walks in GCU's series clinching win over Northern Colorado on April 20, a single-game high for the Lopes. Walker was named WAC Hitter of the Week on March 10.
ARANDA AT THE PLATEHumberto Aranda is batting .337 (31-for-92) in 26 games for GCU, including 21 starts behind the plate. He has 14 runs, 7 doubles, a triple, 2 home runs, and 21 RBI. Aranda boasts a .530 slugging percentage. He has hit safely in seven of his last eight games and in 14 of his last 16 (24-for-67, .358). He leads the team with three 4-hit affairs on the season.
HEATING UPMichael Pomeroy and Brian Kraft have heated up offensively as of late. Pomeroy has 6 multi-hit games since March 18, batting .348 (23-for-66) in that time. Over his last 11 games, Kraft is batting .344 (11-for-32) with 4 multi-hit efforts.
AS A STAFFGCU's starting pitchers have combined to toss 219.2 innings in 35 starts compared to 192.1 innings for opponents' starters. FROM THE TOPThe 1-2-3 spots in GCU's batting order have been very productive so far this season, combining for 62 RBI, 91 runs scored, and 35 stolen bases. David Walker has hit leadoff for the 'Lopes in all 38 games, while Paul Panaccione and Chad De La Guerra have a majority of the at-bats in the second and third spots.

Purdy leads the relief pitchers with 25.2 innings out of the bullpen and has picked up 3 wins and a save in his last 4 appearances. Serigstad and Detwiler have converted two saves in as many opportunities, while Detwiler is limiting the opposition to a .194 batting average.
