In their regular season home finale at GCU Arena, the Grand Canyon University men's basketball team (14-13, 9-5 WAC) won, 84-74, over visiting Chicago State (12-17, 7-7 WAC) to finish 8-3 on their home court during their inaugural run through the Western Athletic Conference.

Larson matched his season-high with 31 points, one shy of his career-high. He also pulled down 12 rebounds for his 18
th double-double of his senior campaign.
Daniel Alexander had 19 points, while
Jerome Garrison had 14. Adams added 12 points and a career-high eight rebounds.
For the game, GCU shot 46.9 percent (23-for-49). Chicago State went 26-for-57 (45.6 percent) from the field and were aided by 12 three-pointers on a 52.2 mark from beyond the arc.
GCU held the advantage in points in the paint, 30-22, and used a 41-24 margin on the boards to score 15 second chance points.
It was a close game from the start, with neither team leading by more than three points as the game saw 14 lead changes and 11 tied scores in the first 16 and a half minutes. Garrison drained two free throws with 3:36 to play in the first half to put the 'Lopes ahead 37-33, which was subsequently followed by a Larson layup to make it a six point game.
GCU took the 45-39 advantage into the break after Adams successfully converted a three-point play with 24 seconds on the clock.
Larson had 16 first-half points, while Garrison and Alexander both added 10. GCU shot 45.2 percent (14-for-31) over the first 20 minutes while holding the Cougars to a 39.4 mark (13-for-33).
The 'Lopes quickly built a double digit lead early in the second half and had doubled the Cougars' scoring output 24-12 over the first 12 minutes to build a 69-51 lead. GCU led by as many as 20 points, but Chicago State pulled back to within single digits over the final minutes of the game before the 'Lopes made key defensive stops down the stretch.
GCU made half of their shots in the final 20 minutes (9-for-18) and held off a Cougars rally that saw them shoot 54.2 percent (13-for-24) in that same time.
GCU will now hit the road for their final two WAC road games, beginning with a 7 p.m. contest at New Mexico State on Thursday. The 'Lopes will then play at Texas-Pan American on Saturday at 6 p.m. (Arizona time).
