For the third and final time this season, the Grand Canyon University men's and women's track and field teams are back competing on the campus of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, Ariz. The Antelopes competed in day one of the Mountain T's Invitational Friday, which is being held inside the Walkup Skydome.
In the men's events,
Robert Matthew finished first in the triple jump, recording a leap of 13.89 meters. Matthew holds the fourth-best mark in the WAC this season in the triple jump. Teammate
Brendan Casel finished fifth in the same event, recording a jump of 13.03 meters.
In the men's 200-meter dash,
Lance Parker took third after finishing with a time of 21.66 seconds. Parker currently holds the second-fastest time in the WAC this season in the 200-meter dash.
In the pole vault,
Cody Smith and
Daniel Zupeuc tied for fourth after both recording vaults of 4.90 meters on Friday. Smith's mark is a season-best and puts him third on the WAC list for best vaults this season. Zupeuc currently holds the second-best effort recorded in the conference this season in the pole vault.
Kevin Lashley tied for fifth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.95 meters.
On the women's side of things,
Samantha Bogatz took home a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line with a time of 24.52.
Jessica Yates finished fourth in the triple jump, recording a mark of 11.58 meters. Yates currently holds the fourth-best jump in the WAC this season. Friday's mark bettered her previous season-best of 11.41 meters.
Kelsi Klotter placed fifth in the 5000-meter run, garnering a time of 19:52.28.
