After a slow start over the first six minutes of the game, the Grand Canyon University men's basketball team found their stride and eased their way to an 80-61 win over Great Falls tonight at GCU Arena in Phoenix, Ariz.
The win improved the Antelopes to 4-4 overall, while the Argos dropped to 7-3.

The Argos, from the Frontier Conference in NAIA, jumped out to a 15-6 advantage over the first 6:16 of the game.
GCU used a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to one and soon after used a 9-0 run to go up 24-18 with just under five minutes left in the half. Davis, who scored a season-high 15 points, scored four points during the stretch.
The Lopes shot 62.5 percent in the opening half and carried a commanding 38-24 lead into the break.
GCU would increase their lead to 19 in the first four minutes of the second half and allowed the Argos to get no closer than 13, cruising to their third home win of the season and finishing with a season-best and Majerle-era best 58.2 percent (32-for-55) shooting for the game.
GCU had four players finish in double-digit scoring, including
Royce Woolridge who had a game-high 18 on 8-for-10 shooting. He also pulled down six boards.
Joshua Braun and
Jerome Garrison each had 11 points, with Braun pulling down a season-high tying seven rebounds.
The Antelopes dominated many statistical categories during the game, winning the points in the paint battle by a 48-30 margin. GCU also led 24-8 in points off turnovers and 36-20 in bench points.
Both squads struggled from the line, with GCU shooting 54.2 percent (13-for-24) and Great Falls coming in at 52.4 (11-for-21).
Grand Canyon will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 9 when they will host Idaho State at GCU Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Cox7 and KXXT 1010 AM. Check www.gculopes.com for online links.
