The Grand Canyon men's basketball team (4-4) will look for their third-straight win tonight when they host Idaho State (1-5) at GCU Arena in Phoenix, Ariz. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tonight's game is being called a "Winter White Out" and all fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. LAST TIME OUTGCU won their second straight game with an 80-61 victory over Great Falls on Dec. 6 at GCU Arena. The 80 points marked a season-high for the Lopes, who shot an impressive 58.2 percent (32-for-55) from the field. Royce Woolridge had a game-high 18 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the floor, while De'Andre Davis added 15 points. Jerome Garrison and Joshua Braun each tallied 11 points for GCU.
HARD WORK, WORKJerome Garrison over the past four games is starting to log minutes that will remind fans of last season when he led the WAC averaging 37.8 minutes per contest. Garrison has played 37, 37, 38 and 30 minutes, respectively, in his last four games. In those games he is averaging 12.0 points per game and has committed only three turnovers.
GARRISON GUIDING THE LOPESJerome Garrison scored a season-best 23 points on Nov. 20 vs. UT Arlington and has scored in double figures in five of GCU's eight games. Last season, he scored 20 or more points 10 times, scoring in double figures in 25 of the last 27 games and in 26 of 30 on the season. He notched a career-best 31-points on Jan. 23 vs. Kansas City, draining a career-high seven three-pointers. Garrison played all 40 minutes in 16 games, and all 45 in GCU's overtime win at UTPA on March 8, and led all WAC players with 37.8 minutes per game. Garrison has 1,112 career points in four seasons with GCU, surpassing the 1,000-point mark with 12 against UTPA on March 8. He joins just 20 others to have reached the 1,000-point plateau in their GCU career.
